Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC)
The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) is a volunteer-run non-profit society whose
members work to improve conditions for cycling in the Lower Mainland. The VACC believes that increased bicycle use has the potential to:

• reduce traffic congestion,
• improve our health, and

• enhance our urban environment.

We work to change the circumstances that discourage bicycle use: inadequate cycling facilities, and lack of education for both cyclists and motorists. We do this by working with municipal, provincial, and federal politicians and government staff, and by offering advocacy support and education to groups and individuals in the Lower Mainland.

Bike to School - What better way to get back into the swing of fall than to plan a bike workshop at your child's school?
The VACC offers full-day cycling courses for teachers, administrators and older students, bike maintenance workshops, bikers' breakfasts, help with setting up school bike clubs, and information sessions. Contact Bill Hamilton for more info. Bike safety classes are also being delivered to elementary students this fall through the One Day One School program.

TravelSmart for Schools - This TransLink-funded program promotes biking, walking, and bussing to school. It's being delivered by the VACC to 10 schools this fall.

Streetwise Cycling - Classes to help you cycle more confidently in traffic are now being offered in a new 4-hour format, in Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond, Burnaby, and New Westminster! Dates & registration

Bike to Work Week - Watch for an easier-to-use website for Bike to Work Week May 31 to June 6, 2010. And stay tuned for more on the new Bike to Work Week Executives program, which gives companies support for promoting Bike to Work events, advanced reports on employees' cycling habits and attitudes, and recommendations on improving your business's BQ (bike quotient).
